Management of the oil and gas resources of the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) is governed by the OCS Lands Act (Act), which sets forth procedures for leasing, exploration, and development and production of those resources. Section 18 of the Act calls for the preparation of an oil and gas leasing program indicating a five year schedule of lease sales designed to best meet the Nation\u2019s energy needs. The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) is the bureau within the Department of the Interior (DOI) that is responsible for implementing these requirements of the Act related to preparing the leasing program. This dataset is offered as a reference to the prior plan and is no longer valid.",
